NBA players CANNOT compete with what's on the internet when it comes to dunking. These pro dunkers and streetball guys are outrageous and people are spoiled by that. NBA players know they aren't as good as those guys but also know that's who they will be compared to.

Why do players not do it? It’s obviously their own decisions at the end of the day but to me it doesn’t make sense. Is there a known reason or is it just that they don’t feel like it?

The winner should get a million. Then all the superstar dunkers will compete. A hundred thousand is what they blow in the bar on a Tuesday night. Make it a million and we'll see the best dunkers in the NBA year after year

The dunk contest was over after Blake Griffin. Zach and Aaron revived it for ONE YEAR and it was back to the grave
The dunk contest this year was definitely saved by Mac, but the real issue is basketball players are too proud to get embarrassed by a missed dunk.

I think the dunk contest should be each dunker gets to pick a defender(either an all star or a teammate or anyone i guess) to defend for him and make the dunks be dunking on people
