The Milwaukee Bucks have signed Greek forward Georgios Kalaitzakis to a deal, the franchise announced Wednesday confirming Eurohoops’ reports.

Kalaitzakis, 22, is expected to suit up for the NBA summer league and make his debut against the Brooklyn Nets later on Wednesday. He was selected with the 60th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, after the Bucks acquired his rights from the Indiana Pacers.

A four-time Greek League champion with Panathinaikos (2017-2019, 2021), the forward averaged 3.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists across 12 minutes in 11 Greek Basket League contests this past season and posted 6 points in 4 minutes across 14 EuroLeague games.

He is tall for his position but he must be stronger. I hope to work hard because he is big talent.

He has to work hard on movement and shooting. He could become a great player if he works hard. Physically he has a lot of talent

I think Sportsims and I have a different meaning of the word “highlights”… I missed this game and was excited to see how he did. They clip him stepping out of bounds, getting rejected, and bricking one three then air balling another. If there was a highlight in those plays then I get it, but there wasn’t on most of them 😂

According to the sportcaster we are in fact watching Giorgos Kalintzakis, the old center back footballer of Panathinaikos that has apparently timewarped himself too youth and learned basketball. :p

Former player of my team. Always a substitute but a great prospect. Very good defender, very good ball handler, passer and nice court vision. Mediocre 3point shooter. Huge potential for Giorgos. Bulk him up a bit an boost his confidence

I am a veteran basketball player, one year ago a friend of mine asked me if i know a Greek basketball player who could be in NBA and i said to him this guy.he was laughing at me ,i explained to him that he is a two metre point guard with big hands and he can score he can pass he can play defense, and i steal believe in him as i believed GIANNIS at the first time i saw him playing basketball

He was bigger talent than Giannis but never get the chances to play in panathinaikos where you have to be a junkie to play

So far I don’t see anything special from him. There are a lot of dudes who can do what he does or even do better than him. Hope he keeps working hard. He has to realize that he is not the only guy there who is playing for a chance to get on an NBA team. He needs to be hungrier and more assertive.

I don't think signing him is a decision made based on merit, which is problematic… I don't think he would have had any chance in the NBA if he wasn't Greek and if Giannis didn't do him this big favour. He's really big but he is already 22, doesn't have a consistent three-pointer as a guard, and haven't proven anything in Europe. Bucks could have easily found a way more skilful player. I hope he uses this chance very well, otherwise, it will be unfair for the many other players who already deserve that position more.

Needs work but with an average 3 point shot and better defense he can be a solid playmaker if not more

Giorgos is moving and passing the ball well. Ofcourse there is a lot of work to be done, but he is a good prospect.

Need lots of work on dribbling, shooting and defense. Just keep working hard with Giannis!

he can really pass and operate out of the pick and roll for a guy of that size. if he can progress as a shooter he can be a player.

So far i think he has shown good play making ability off the pick n roll, his shot has looked bad which in all honesty i think it's expected until he gets acclimated into the different distance of the line and finds some confidence. He has looked capable of breaching the defense off the dribble as well which will be most valuable for his skill set cause he is a player who can use his length to finish or draw fouls at the basket.

The potential is there as long as he keeps working hard on his body and game, no better person to take inspiration from than Giannis of course.

One last thing, i hope to see him get a bit more playing time, both games he got injured in the 4th quarter and wasn't able to play which is unfortunate but luckily they have both been minor injuries, might need to get stronger to be able to play through those.

Well, very good court vision, good pass, and good decisions with the ball in his hands. I saw him and in the first match, he likes driving and gets the contact (and the fouls of course). Defenitily not a good 3point shooter which is something that has to improve. Also, he is too…thin for the NBA right now, needs to work with his body. But its obvious that the kid has potential. With Giannis by his side (Georgios is Greek too) he can learn a lot. Interesting prospect!
